  1. Is it possible to add a date range when creating a calendar exception? Schools would really like to be able to add all 3 months worth of summer vacation days all at once, so it would be great to have a beginning and ending date range to create a batch of exceptions.

  2. A patron has a block in their BURB for an item. The patron has had the item and we can't delete the block. When we try and delete, it says 'cannot delete block, check the item in' , then we check the item in and go back to the block and it says the same thing.

  3. I did a search for a patron and the only record was for a NetLibrary item but the url was not functional. Will the links be available in the future?

  4. How can we delete a city code that was added by mistake?

  5. How does one override the system when the item to be checked out is non-circulating and reserved?

  6. How can a school library force an overdue/bill for a student who notifies them this is their last day at school?

  7. I am a school librarian and I need a list of all my students who currently have something checked out.

  8. When printing out a list of what a borrower has checked out it is numbered on the screen but not when you choose Print from the File menu.

There's no way to create a date range in calendar exception. What many schools do, particularly if they don't charge fines, is to alter the regular calendar when they close for the summer to show that they are closed all 7 days. Then, when school reopens in the fall, they change these days to show what days they are open.

If you encounter this situation, first make sure the item is not still in the patron request list. If it is, the request must be deleted. If it is not, contact the LTLS Automation team and they can delete this request.

Unfortunately, a url link in a bibliographic record in the Horizon Stafpac will not link to the Internet site, and we have not seen a timeline for this functionality. You have to use LINCPac (the web catalog) for this to function.

  4. How can we delete a city code that was added by mistake?

Staff in libraries cannot delete city codes, you can only add them. Please contact the LTLS Automation department and we will delete the city code from the list.

  5. How does one override the system when the item to be checked out is non-circulating and reserved?

Currently, the non-circulating itypes are set to a zero in the circ-parameter table for "loans allowed". If left this way, there is no override. It is possible to set it up as circ_privilege exemption under "loans allowed" with a loan period of zero. Then, when staff go to checkout the item, you get the message that it's not permitted (because of the zero days). Under password control, you can proceed. The system will default to the default loan period for that location but could be adjusted. Libraries wishing to change this setup should contact the LTLS automation department.

  6. How can a school library force an overdue/bill for a student who notifies them this is their last day at school?

Right now the only way to do this in Horizon is to do a print from the borrower's burb screen.

  7. I am a school librarian and I need a list of all my students who currently have something checked out.

In circulation, click on the Create Item Status icon. Do a combined search on 1) your location and 2) status of item equal checked out (o). This will generate a list lf items owned by your library that are currently checked out. The list will include the name of the borrower that has the item. This list can then be printed.

  8. When printing out a list of what a borrower has checked out it is numbered on the screen but not when you choose Print from the File menu.

You're right, the printout does not include numbers as you see on the screen. It's not currently possible to do this.
