2005 - 093 HORIZON 7.4/LINCPAC 4.0 UPGRADE

The date for the upgrade to Horizon 7.4 and LINCPac 4.0 has been set for early August 18, 2005.

Most of the new functionality in this upgrade will affect LINCPac. A summary of the functionality is listed here:

*LINCPac will have a new look, although tabs will still be prevalent
*Users can set defaults and preferences if they choose to setup an individual login/password account:
*Users can set up content alerts to be emailed when items are added to the catalog. For example, if users want to know when a new cookbook is added to the catalog, an email can be sent to them.
*Users can set a default search type that they prefer to use (ex: general keyword), default limits and sorts, and a default search location.
*LINCPac will provide a spell checker and thesaurus options to help further refine search terms.
*Patrons are able to create their own library portal.

2005 - 094 PC REQUIREMENTS FOR UPGRADE

Dynix has announced the recommended PC specifications for workstations that will utilize Horizon 7.4 and LINCPac 4.0. Please check these specifications at: http://www.ltls.org/HorizonUpgrade/Horizon_Specs.htm and make sure the workstations in your library adhere to these requirements.

2005 - 095 OVERDRIVE

Lincoln Trail Libraries System is pleased to announce the arrival of downloadable audiobooks. Thanks in large part to the efforts of Champaign Public Library, LTLS will partner with North Suburban Library System to offer a wide range of downloadable titles available through OverDrive. The items will include complete MARC records and will appear in the online catalog. Once the patron chooses the title, he/she will be taken to the shared site called MediaMall. To find out more about OverDrive, go to: http://www.overdrive.com/.

A release date has yet to be determined, but look for MediaMall in the coming months. Training sessions will be provided for library staff.
