NEW LINC LIBRARIES

We’ve received final word from the Illinois State Library that 8 new libraries will be able to join LINC as a result of an LLSAP grant. Here is the list:

Bement K-12 School

Bismarck-Henning Junior High

Kansas Public Library

Mattoon High School

Mattoon Junior High

Newman Public Library

Paris Carnegie Library

Sidney Public Library

The library directors have already begun configuration and setup meetings with Lincoln Trail staff. Congratulations to them all!

AUTHORITY CONTROL

In May, we sent a file of January-March 2006 bibliographic records to LTI for the Authority Load process. As a result of the processing, we loaded back into LINC 1,039 new/changed authorities and 12,738 updated bibliographic records.

2006 - 062 ASKAWAY VIRTUAL REFERENCE

The AskAway Virtual Reference service, providing 24x7 chat and email reference coverage, was officially "opened" on April 24. Eight LINC libraries are currently participating in this Illinois/Wisconsin libraries cooperative project. A link to the AskAway virtual reference service was added to all library LINCPacs and takes the place of the MyLibrarian link.

Please consider joining other libraries in this project. If your library is interested in participating in the AskAway service, send an email to Pat Boze, pboze@lincolntrail.info.
