UPCOMING MEETINGS

LINC Policy Council – May 18, 1:30 - 3:30

2005 - 066 CHANGE TO SHARED ITYPES HAS BEGUN

Library directors have begun returning forms that LTLS staff will use to map each library’s collection from individual itypes to the new shared itypes. As part of this process, we will make changes to more than 2 million items, as well as changing circulation parameters and setup for each location. We plan to have this entire process completed by June 30.

Directors will inform staff when this change is scheduled to take place for your location. At that time, staff will need to begin using new itype codes when creating new item records. Check with your library director if you are unsure about when this will take place in your library.

2005 - 067 PROMPTCAT UPDATE
For those libraries that use the LTLS Cataloging Center and have Baker & Taylor accounts, we have now begun using the PromptCat service offered through OCLC. PromptCat allows Baker & Taylor to send a list of your ordered titles to OCLC. OCLC then searches the WorldCat database and imports MARC records to a file if the records meet certain stringent cataloging standards. After the file is received, these OCLC MARC records will be edited and downloaded into LINC by staff at the LTLS Cataloging Center.

2005 - 068 FEATURED WEBREPORTER REPORT

As the year for schools winds to a close, several libraries have asked for lists of items that are still checked out. WebReporter has a report that can be used to create such a list.

Log in to WebReporter (http://caterpillar.lincolntrail.info/HorizonWebReporter/asp/), go to Shared Reports>Circulation>Item Reports and choose the report called ‘Items Overdue More than ‘N’ Days’. This report will let you input a number of days (anywhere from 1 to 9999), then choose your location. The list generated by WebReporter will include all of the titles that your borrowers currently have overdue that became overdue before the ‘number of days’ you specified.

2005 - 069 LINC UPDATE QUIZ

Be the first person to correctly answer this question!

"I need to add a new item statistical class. Is there a form that I need to fill out and where is it?"

If you think you have the correct answer, email Amanda McKay.

Congratulations to Anne Newman of Paxton Carnegie Library for correctly identifying http://www.lincolntrail.info/systemstatus.html as the URL to locate information about the status of LTLS online services.
