2006 - 025 HORIZON WEBREPORTER UPGRADE

After the upgrade on Friday, 2/24, Horizon WebReporter looks different. When you login, you will see two icons, giving you two options:
On the left – Horizon WebReporter
On the right – WebReporter 1.4v.b4b

The icon on the left links to the ‘old’ version of WebReporter, the Top11 f older, and any subscriptions you may have previously set up.

The icon on the right links to the new version of WebReporter. There are many new reports in this version but we have not yet had a chance to test them all. For your normal monthly reports, we recommend you click on the Horizon WebReporter icon (the icon on the left). If you are interested in seeing what new reports are available in the new version, click on the WebReporter 1.4v.b4b icon. If you encounter problems with any reports, please contact the LTLS automation department (217-352-0047 x1).

SILO AND HORIZON

We’ve had some questions from LINC libraries about SILO (Serials of Illinois Online). LINC libraries are also governing members of OCLC and are also members of SILO. SILO stands for Serials of Illinois Libraries Online. For LINC libraries, the batchload of records that LTLS sends to OCLC specifically does not include serials. Each library is responsible for adding, updating and deleting their serial records in OCLC. The process for this has just recently changed. Once you have added your current holdings into OCLC, it will then become a job of maintenance -- when you delete a magazine at your library or out of LINC, then you will delete it out of OCLC. Two SILO training sessions have been added to the calendar (March 13, 1-4:30 and March 17, 9-12:30). A few seats remain in these classes. However, more classes will be announced in late April or early May as the need arises.

A new round of LINC training classes has been announced for Spring 2006. Here are the dates and times for the core LINC classes:
March 20, 2006 9:00 - 12:30 LINC Getting Started
March 21, 2006 9:00 - 12:30 LINC Basic Circulation
March 22, 2006 9:00 - 12:30 LINC Advanced Circulation
March 22, 2006 1:30 - 2:30 LINC Adding Items

These classes will be repeated in May:
May 3, 2006 9:00 - 12:30 LINC Getting Started
May 4, 2006 9:00 - 12:30 LINC Basic Circulation
May 5, 2006 9:00 - 12:30 LINC Advanced Circulation
May 5, 2006 1:30 - 2:30 LINC Adding Items

For part-timers there will be a Saturday class (which meets the training requirement):
