CHANGES TO PLANNED UPGRADE ON FEBRUARY 7

We had been scheduled for a February 7 upgrade to Horizon 7.4 and LINCPAC 4.1 for several weeks.  However, SirsiDynix has informed us that this new PAC (4.1) is still unstable and advised us to not upgrade to either product at this time.   We were advised to proceed with a minor upgrade to the current LINCPAC, to version 3.06A, which will fix some bugs but not change the interface or configuration.  This is the 'minor' upgrade that will happen instead on February 7.

What does this mean to you?
1. On February 7, LINCPAC will be down for a period of time in the morning and possibly early afternoon.  It will not be available for searching and requests cannot be placed.  Horizon will not be down during this period but you will not be able to place requests during the downtime of LINCPAC.
2. You will not need to load Horizon 7.4 on client workstations.  You will continue to use your Horizon 7.3.2 client after the upgrade to LINCPAC.
3. Once LINCPac is again available, the interface will be no different.
4. During the downtime of LINCPAC, we recommend you use  SILC (FirstSearch) for searching.

We will post messages to the LTLS Online System Status blog (http://www.lincolntrail.info/systemstatus.html) to keep you informed of the progress of the upgrade to LINCPAC 3.06A on February 7.

2006 - 012 NEW MY MEDIA MALL RECORDS

We’ve added another 145 My Media Mall bibliographic records to LINC.  This brings the total number of Media Mall titles to 1200 (downloadable audiobooks, e-books, and mobipocket books).  Also, the Lincoln Trail Libraries patrons, as a group, have the highest monthly circulation of all libraries participating in My Media Mall.  Thanks for your efforts to promote this product and encourage use by your patrons.

AUTHORITY LOAD COMPLETED

We recently completed an authority load process called an authority refresh.  This is a process that is done every two years.  To accomplish this, the entire bibliographic file is sent to LTI, the authority record vendor.  They processed this file and sent back new/changed authorities as well as changed bibliographic records with these new authorities.   After these records were processed by LTI, the following records were loaded back into LINC:
26,994 changed or new LC name/subject authorities
36,792 changed bibliographic records that reflect these new authorities.
