| 2005 - 007 | MEDIA ICONS ADDED TO LINCPAC |
We have added new ‘media icons’ to LINCPac. Media icons are small picutures, underneath the title, that represent the format of a title (such as vhs, dvd, audiocassette, cd, etc.). This will help patrons more easily identify types of materials as they are searching the catalog. Try this out by doing a keyword search on ‘romeo juliet’. You will see all kinds of icons in the list of titles, including dvd’s, audiocassettes, books, and cd’s.
| 2005 - 008 | ITYPE REDUCTION COMMITTEE |
| At the LINC Policy Council meeting on January 12, the
Itype Reduction Committee presented its recommendation to reduce the
large number of itypes on Horizon. After discussion by LINC Policy
Council, it was decided to present this recommendation to the LINC
Directors Group at its February 23rd meeting and then make a decision
on the policy. The recommendation essentially reduces the current 800+
individual library itypes to only 25 shared itypes. Libraries will
still have the ability to make choices on parameters such as fine rates,
loan periods, and other local circulation rules. Both the committee’s
presentation and the proposed itype policy can be viewed at: http://www.ltls.org/linccommittees/lpc/jan2005lpc.html
| 2005 - 009 | LOCAL HOLDS COMMITTEE |
| At the LINC Policy Council meeting on January 12, a committee was established to fully investigate holds/requests within Horizon. On this committee are: Scott Drone-Silvers (Lake Land Community College Library), Fred Schlipf (Urbana Free Library), Marsha Grove (Champaign Public Library), Alice Cisna (Arthur Public Library District), Cynthia Helms (Champaign Centennial High School Library), Diann Peabody (Watseka Public Library), and Joe Sciacca and Pat Boze (Lincoln Trail Libraries System). If you have concerns about this issue, please send an email to Scott Drone-Silvers, email: dsilvers@lakeland.cc.il.us | |

| 2005 - 010 | LINC UPDATE QUIZ |
After a hiatus during the holiday season, the LINC Update quiz is back! Be the first person to correctly answer this question and receive a prize! "I would like to have a map displaying all of the communities served by LTLS. Where do I find that?" If you think you have the correct answer, email Amanda McKay at amckay@lincolntrail.info Congratulations to Kristina Daily of Champaign Public Library who correctly stated that WebFeat can be accessed by clicking on the "Databases" link from LINC PAC.
| 2005 - 011 | ATTENTION SERIAL MODULE USERS |
A new chronology pattern for the last issue of Time magazine has been created. The dates of that issue not only crossed over two months but two years as well. We did not have anything in the chronology pattern list to display this kind of chronology. The name of the new chronology pattern is MDYMDY. An example of how this would display: Dec. 27, 2004-Jan. 3, 2005. If there are other "end of year" chronology patterns that currently do not exist, contact Donna Schaal at 217-352-0047 ext. 204 or dschaa@lincolntrail.info.
