MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT

LINC lists information about the resources of libraries in East Central Illinois and provides a gateway to resources and information throughout Illinois, the nation and the world.  LINC is the shared automation program of Lincoln Trail Libraries System (LTLS).  This document outlines the membership requirements for participating libraries in LINC.

 

While individual libraries retain autonomy over their own operations, participation in a shared system requires shared policy and shared decision making.  __________________   agrees to abide by the following terms and conditions:

 

1.   To accept and follow the LINC Principles of Cooperation (attached).

 

2.   To share in decision-making to enhance and expand LINC. 

 

3.   To participate in LINC Directors Group (LDG) and other appropriate committees.

 

4.   To allow staff to participate in all required training programs.

 

5.   To follow the established policies and procedures of LTLS and LINC. 

 

6.   To assume and pay promptly when due any financial obligations arising from membership in LINC.  The shared costs between the Library, other participating libraries, and LTLS include: central site, database management and operations staff, vendor maintenance costs, shared database access charges, and other costs agreed to between the libraries and LTLS.  The Library is solely responsible for telecommunications costs, local equipment, supplies, and port access. 

 

7.   To comply with technical specifications for cabling, telecommunications, and peripheral equipment as specified by vendor(s) and LTLS.

 

8.   To follow the LINC Dispute Resolution process in disputes related to LINC policies and procedures (attached).

 

9.   That the data of the Library shall remain the property of the Library.

 

10. That policies, protocols, rules, or regulations will be considered as binding on all LINC members.  Failure to comply with these may lead to the imposition of sanctions considered necessary and appropriate. 

           

This agreement will be in effect beginning                            .  The Library shall have the right to terminate this Agreement provided a minimum of one yearıs written notice is given to the LTLS Executive Director.  All financial obligation of both parties will continue through the end of the LTLS fiscal year in which the termination takes effect.
