Alice Cisna called the meeting to order at 9:35. Alice asked if there were any changes to the agenda. The minutes for the April 24, 2007 meeting were approved.
The first item on the agenda was the consideration of the recommended revision to the existing policy, ‘Holds Parameters by Item,’ to include allowing local holds. The added revision allows libraries to categorize some of their items so they are requestable by their patrons only. The revision includes language indicating that this should be considered as a temporary state for a small portion of the collection because of the resource-sharing nature of LINC. The motion to approve was made by Anne, seconded by Sarah. The vote was 6 for, 1 against, 1 not present; the motion carried.
Phill Cohee, chair of the LINC Circulation Policies subcommittee, Pat, and Scott led a discussion of the proposed revisions to the existing LINC Circulation Policies. Several changes in wording and format were suggested. A motion was made to accept the policy revisions in principle but that the committee meet again to rewrite certain policies with suggested wording changes, with final approval in the future.
Philo Public Library District requested 3 local itypes be approved, for controlling checkout to certain materials by age group (juvenile, high school, adult). Holly made a motion to approve, second by Rick, this motion was approved.
Jan updated the committee on the Symposium being planned for September 13-15. The Symposium will focus on discussions of the future of Integrated Library Systems, vendor perspective of the automation landscape, and presentations by agencies using innovative products for either their ILS or their web catalog. Several nationally-known speakers, including Marshall Breeding, have been contacted and/or confirmed.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30.
