IPac Implementation

Pat discussed recent changes to iPac.  All library iPacs have now been configured, for those LINC libraries with a PAC port.  We just installed Release 2.02, which had over 400 bug fixes.  A link to local bookstores is not yet available but we are working on it, as well as a Z39.50 connection to WorldCat.  We also think we have found a solution to limiting Internet access out of the catalog, for those that want to do this. We hope to have the memo about the release of iPac out to directors in January, with implementation beginning in February.

ISL LLSAP STUDY

Jan discussed the zILLANE Final Report, available on the web at http://www.unt.edu/zillane/FinalReport.htm.  The Illinois State Library has organized a process to determine what recommendations will be acted upon as a result of this statewide study of regional library system automation programs (LLSAP¹s).  This will include presentations by ISL staff at library system board meetings, open forums with librarians at each system, and meetings at the ISL with system staff.  In addition, ISL is forming several committees to examine various recommendations put forth in the report.  ISL¹s timetable includes that a plan of action will be determined by May, 2003.

LINC RFP DRAFT

A first draft of the Request for Proposal Migration to Horizon was distributed to members of LINC Policy Council previous to the meeting.  Pat reviewed the timetable and process for completing the RFP.  The draft RFP has been posted on the LTLS web site, along with an online comment form.  Also, two library staff input session are planned for January so that additional input can be given about what should be included in the RFP.  Technical reviewers, with experience in particular areas,  will assist in reading through certain sections of the RFP.  The technical reviewers will come from those who attend the RFP input sessions.  Plans are to have the final draft ready for approval by the end of January.
