LINC Financial Report
:
There was no financial report. Pat will send out a financial report via email as soon as it is available.
FY2006 Annual Report
:
Pat Boze reviewed the information in the LINC 2006 Annual Report document that is now available on the web site. Accomplishments for last year included launching MyMediaMall, receiving an automation grant for 8 new libraries, implementing Spanish LINCPac and AskAway virtual reference.
Local Holds Update
:
Pat reviewed the decision by LINC Policy Council to test Local Holds for two months, beginning December 1. The test will allow only patrons of that library to request items owned by the library. Materials in local holds must be 6 months or newer and less than 5% of a library’s collection. To date, 3 libraries have indicated interest in testing Local Holds. A discussion was held about the advantages and disadvantages of local holds. At the end of the discussion, Marsha Grove, Champaign Public, indicated that Champaign Public will not be testing local holds.
Horizon 8 Review
:
Pat reviewed information from the CODI (Customers of Dynix Inc.) conference where SirsiDynix announced that the beta release of Horizon 8.0 had been premature and inadequately tested. Therefore, the timeline for general release has been moved back and will be subject to much more aggressive quality control guidelines. Quality will be chosen over functionality in future releases. It is anticipated that Horizon 8.0 will be available by Spring 2007 for general release. In many ways, the conference was ‘subdued’ in comparison to last year when Horizon 8.0 was being highly touted. One comment from this discussion was how we might use WebReporter to generate overdue notices based on the circulation location instead of borrower location. Pat will followup with SirsiDynix on this request.
New LTLS Web Page
:
Lincoln Trail released a new web page. Previously published items (Quick Connections, LINC Update) will now be released as a blog. Anyone can subscribe to the blogs to keep up to date on announcements. The LTLS web page will change daily with more timely announcements.
Adjournment
:
The meeting was adjourned at 3:00. A meeting for the libraries that use the LTLS Cataloging Center was held after this meeting.
