How You Can Help

Join Lincoln Trail Libraries System's effort to prevent further cuts by contacting your State Senators and Representatives between Thursday, Oct. 9th and Friday Oct 23. Illinois libraries have launched a targeted viral marketing campaign to ensure that Illinois legislators are keenly aware of library funding issues. We need all Illinois library advocates to be involved and it is easy!

SaveIllinoisLibraries.com was created by the Illinois library community to let Illinois legislators know that their constituents are passionate about keeping libraries funded.

The site features a place for library staff and users from across the state to tell their stories by posting a story about the value your library provides, how your library has been affected by budget cuts, or what your library means to you.

Another page of the site gives you tips on different ways you can take action on this issue. You can compose your own letter, use one of the templates, or use the Illinois Library Association’s website to send the pledge letter.

There is an FAQ page with information you might find helpful when talking to legislators.

The site also includes a website badge like the one below for you to put on your library's site to show your support!

The campaign is active on both Facebook and Twitter
Login to your existing account or sign-up today and become a fan!

PLEASE GET INVOLVED!!! Make a visit, send an e-mail, or write a letter to your legislators. In the current economic and political environment, no effort is too small and no advocacy campaign is too large.
