WebJunction Illinois has been available since October 2007 and the site continues to grow. I would encourage everyone to go there and click around to discover all kinds of wonderful library information.
One of the cool parts of WebJunction Illinois is the Technology tab.
WebJunction Illinois has already gathered together creative resources regarding technology. They have done the work for you! Under the Technology tab, you can find links to learn basic computer skills, how to purchase hardware, information about software, security and emerging technologies just to name a few. Take a look at their topics list below:
For instance, under the Hardware link, you will find articles regarding Peripherals, Printers, Setup and Maintenance, and Thin Clients. These articles are useful, short and to the point, with tips and tricks to help guide you through the technology maze. They usually feature real stories from other librarians on how they deal with the same technology questions that you have.
Throughout WebJunction Illinois you can join the conversation. WebJunction Illinois has discussion groups throughout the different topics. When you see the tab marked Discussion, click on it and if a discussion thread has been started you can see the topics that other people have posted. If you have a logon with WebJunction Illinois, you can post an answer back or ask your own question.
Technology is just one of the many topics that WebJunction Illinois covers. You can find online free webinars, the LibraryU modules, grant ideas, ideas on how to serve specific users, etc. This information portal is supported by the Illinois State Library and continues to grow in size and depth.
