Greendisk Information

Like most contemporary workplaces Lincoln Trail Libraries System generates it's share of environmentally unsafe information technology waste during our day to day operations. Simply throwing out things like old hard drives and compact discs threatens the environment and compromises the information stored on these devices. In an effort to contribute to a greener workplace and maintain the security of our information LTLS has begun using GreenDisk Technotrash Cans for our “byte-sized” technotrash.

GreenDisk's services include the trashcans, shipping of the technotrash to the GreenDisk processing facility, and processing. All materials that GreenDisk collects are reused, recycled or destroyed. All information on any electronic media is destroyed.  Magnetic media such as hard drives, floppy disks, Zip disks, and cell phones are magnetically erased to destroy every scrap of data. CDs, DVDs and similar plastic media are shredded.  GreenDisk certified destruction is supported by an audit trail report that demonstrates compliance with regulatory requirements and/or company policies.

GreenDisk also offers for sale, CD-RW disks and hard or soft shell CD cases, all made from recycled materials.
