Several libraries
in the IHLS service area share rotating collections of particular
formats of material, such as large print materials and videos.
The delivery system assists in rotating these materials on a schedule
determined according to other demands on the delivery system. These
rotations will only occur on the days of Wednesday, Thursday,
and Friday.
Who can use?
LINC member libraries
that participate in resource sharing projects can use the distribution
and delivery system for rotating these specialized collections.
How to use
Libraries needing collections
rotated should follow the steps outlined below. Library staff should
contact the System when these collections are ready for rotation.
1. Send an e-mail message
to LTLS at delivery@lincolntrail.info requesting
a pickup, OR
2. Call 217-352-0047.
Ask for Extension 290 or follow voice mail prompts.
3. Leave a message which includes
the library name, 3 letter agency code, name of collection to be picked
up, and your personal name.

Responsibility
•Libraries participating in Cooperative
Collection Development projects are responsible for the organization
and maintenance of rotation schedules.
•Collections must be clearly
labeled so as to be easily distinguishable from the regular delivery
bags. The destination of the collection must also be clearly marked
on the bag. •Collections must be placed at the designated delivery
exchange point.
•Canvas bags should be packed in a neat fashion--larger items on the
bottom, smaller on the top. Books are to be packed side by side, perpendicular
to the direction of the bag handle.
•Bags should not weigh in excess
of 40 pounds each. When packed for shipment, a collection should not
exceed 3 canvas bags on a given day.
Limitations
Member libraries must provide
their own canvas bags for these collections. The Operations Manager should
be contacted regarding product information on System approved canvas
bags. A cooperative canvas bag purchase may be arranged.
Because of the heavy
volume of delivery on Mondays and Tuesdays, rotating
collections will only be rotated on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
