Electronic XPO

Illinois State Library Director Jean Wilkins, the Schaumburg Township District Library, the University of Illinois at Springfield, and the ILLINET Network Advisory Council (INAC) sponsored a two-day event featuring electronic resources appropriate for all types of libraries:  academic, public, school, and special.  The E-R-XPO provides an opportunity for ILLINET member academic, public, school, and special librarians and library staffers to meet with electronic resource representatives both in an "exhibits" environment and for individual vendor presentations.

Cataloging Maintenance Center Meetings

For the CMCs, LTLS staff visited DuPage, Rolling Prairie, and Alliance Library Systems to explain the history of the statewide Cataloging Maintenance Centers, how they came to be created, why they exist, what they do, what the library systems' role is in the process, and what the future might be for the CMCs.  A survey that each system completed last year for the Statewide Cataloging Standards Committee was also reviewed.

Project 12

LTLS hosted a train-the-trainer session to demonstrate the Project 12 web site.  Committee members representing all 12 systems created materials using the new site and also constructed a display board to publicize Project 12 and to use in training sessions.

LINC Policy Council

LINC Policy Council reviewed the next draft of the Request for Upgrade to Horizon document and made additional comments and suggestions for inclusion in the draft.  Staff reviewed comments made by library representatives at the two Input sessions held in January.

zILLANE Open Forums

LTLS staff coordinated two Open Forums for the zILLANE study.  One forum, presented by Anne Craig and Mike Ragen, was held at LTLS.  A second forum, presented by Pat Boze and Amy Weber, was held at Hoopeston Public Library.

Conversion to LINC Pac

All but three LINC libraries converted from Pac4Windows to LINC Pac during February.  The libraries are now utilizing a totally web-based browser that scopes to their specific holdings.  LINC Pac is accessed through the Internet and can be used both in the library and by remote users.  This product allows up to five users for each PAC port, instead of the one user allowed by Pac4Windows.  This increases the number of access points for library customers.
