The Lincoln Trail Libraries System (LTLS) staff has looked into different avenues that will allow LTLS to seek additional sources of funding which are not currently available to LTLS. One way is to establish an Illinois foundation under the auspices of LTLS and to seek IRS recognition for the foundation as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Lincoln Trail Libraries Foundation will be established for literary and educational purposes to promote and facilitate the use of various forms of information resources for the public and private sector in the East Central Illinois Region. The LTLS Budget/Finance Committee and Executive Committee have reviewed the 501(c)(3) application proposed by the LTLS staff and recommend that the staff proceed with the application process and hire an attorney to review and submit the application.
