Membership Review - FY2004 APS Forms

Committee members reviewed summary information from the FY2004 APS forms received from 5.  Two recommendations for the LTLS Board of Directors were made as a result of that review:

1) 1 library qualifies for continued membership in LTLS, with no concern:

         Donovan CUSD #3

2) 8 libraries qualify for continued membership in LTLS, with concerns

Crestwood CUSD #4 (c), Philo Public Library District (c), Mattoon CUSD #2 (c), VA Illiana Health Care Library System (c)

In other business, the committee discussed additional libraries' membership status and made these recommendations.

€National Council of Teachers of English - request a letter asking for their documentation of status change

€Schlarman High School - schedule a meeting to discuss staffing concerns

€Rantoul City Schools - recommend board action in May

€Iroquois West CUSD #10 - send a letter requesting a staffing plan

€Thomasboro Schools - recommend board action in May

€Georgetown-Ridge Farm CUSD #4 - recommend board action in May

Besides these recommendations, the committee discussed possible procedures for monitoring/notifying Developmental members and tracking their progress.  The committee expressed the need to adhere to a 6-year plan for Developmental members to improve to Full members and asked that a procedural document be developed.  The committee also asked for additional information on the status of all Developmental members, an examination of trends statewide in school staffing, and how other systems certify prison libraries.
